UPDATES to my saga: (newest updates on bottom)

*On March 26th, I got a call from M telling me that the parts were in. I told her I needed an appointment after 4:30pm on Thursday or on a Saturday morning. She says she'll call back -- we shall see.

* I emailed a copy of this letter, the pictures, and the above update to the Manager of Consumer Affairs of BMW of North America.  I will update when I hear anything about it.  The BMW company has been great to deal with. I just wished Vista was too.

*She didn't call me back until March 29, at 8:50am leaving me a message saying she wanted to touch base regarding my  appointment.  I called her back and got the voicemail, so I said "What appointment? You said you would talk to the technician and call me back. You never did."  So I called her manager who told me not to panic. I told him I wasn't panicked just ANNOYED.  Seriously! So I told him the story and he went to talk to M, came back on the phone and asked me what day is good for me. He said the technician leaves at 11am today. I told him that since I didn't get the call back, I made plans for today.  So I said next Friday is good.  He said 4/4 is good for them too. We shall see.  Forgive me for my pessimism. I just know better than to expect it to actually happen.

* I brought my car in on April 4th, at 4:15pm  -- of course M wasn't at work that day. The manager C took my car in and got the two parts installed. But didn't detail my car as he promised. But I was so glad to be done with this issue that I didn't even bother asking about it.

* I didn't drive my car all weekend. But when I was driving it to work this morning (April 7th) I noticed that my side view mirrors were all off it's normal setting. So I tried to adjust it myself and it made it worse. That's when  I realized that they were self adjusting -- up and down, left and right.. Since I was on the Turnpike near Vista, I existed the Turnpike and drove over. I called C to see maybe it's something his technicians did, but he didn't answer. So I drove it to the Service Center and got assigned an adviser who told me it would cost me $135 just for a diagnostic. So I explained the situation with the lock and he said it might be related. We walked over to C's office and of course he is trying to say it's impossible. Finally the service adviser said it sounded like it could be related. C said hopefully not.  So I agreed to let them look at the mirrors and since I didn't purchase my car there -- I had to pay for a loaner too. I hate Vista BMW.  I really hate Vista BMW.

*So I went to Vista after work to pick up my car. But before I did, I had to get gas for the loaner. While I was at the gas station, the service advisor called to tell me that he had bad news.  It's Vista BMW - like there was ever good news. So he tells me that while rushing to put my car back together, the technician smudged the cover of the side view mirror that was painted. He told me that I could come get my car  tomorrow afternoon. I told him if I did that, I would have to pay for another day of rental. So he tells me to come get my car and come back tomorrow and they would snap it back in. UGH!  I hate Vista BMW.  Oh -- this costs me $780 and change.  Oh.. I noticed like about $2 and change were missing from my coin try. Nice Eh?  On my way home, I stopped to get gas for my car and while I was waiting for the gas ... I opened the back door to try to adjust the floor mats. That is when I discovered another Vista surprise. The work they did was SO subpar that the weather strip has already come apart and allows water to seep into my car when it rains. and boy did we have a rainy weekend.  I Really Hate Vista.

* April 8, 2008 - I got a call from Jane at Vista to ask me on a scale of 1-5 how I would rate my service. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I called my usual service advisor at Lauderdale BMW and asked him if he knew how much something like that cost. I explained that if it wasn't a lot -- that I would rather pay for the repairs out of pocket than to have to deal with any of the incompetent staff at Vista.  He said to bring it in and he will see.

* April 9, 2008 - I dropped off my car at Lauderdale BMW. Everything is so much better here. Even the on site Enterprise Rental. They bring the car out to you and everything. At Vista, the car is in a small, over filled parking lot that you have to try to maneuver and try to get out of.  I hate Vista BMW.
